STEP INTO THE UNKNOWN........

As I watch my grandson and his friend step out into the world of the unknown at such an early age......I know their life will always be good things.  Too many of us want to stay in our comfort zone and many people......right here in Utah .......have not even been out of our state.  These two just took off for the unknown in Ghana and of course there is always a culture shock.....to wake them up....but they learn so much.   I have another grandson who will soon be heading to Ireland and Helsinki on an adventure.......DO IT.....I say.

I know that feeling......I have been there....done that.

Off to Vernal tomorrow for Ken's missionary farewell so no blogs for a few days.

GOOD THINGS KEEP HAPPENING!!!!!

      I believe my house is haunted......Every time I look in the mirror, a crazy old lady stands in front of me so I can't see my reflection???
     The big 24th of July just passed......and very quietly as all my friends are worse off than I am and we didn't have the energy, desire or something to face the heat and crowds to view the parade or watch the fireworks this year.
     My kids were all out of town......but my sweet grand-daughter and great-grandson came to visit.....I feel so sorry for people without family who care about you.  Tiff worked on my sick computer, but gave up and called in baby brother to bail me out......My sweet grandson Will came over after work and gave it a good going over and at least now I can do my blog.....still struggling with email and Facebook.  I did remind Will of the couple of times he called me to come over to Olympus Hi and get in line for his football gear as I knew the coach very well and it worked!!!!  That's what Grammies are for........
     Today has been a very busy day as I started off early .....had to take GIGI in for her shots, then my grandson from Vernal wanted to meet me for lunch and show me his pictures of Ghana and gave me a great wooden carving he brought back for me.....so special.  Then to the bank, Cyprus Credit Union and home in time for good friend Patty to drop by for coffee.  Probably sleep good tonight.
      Sherrie called and wants me to ride out Friday with her for Ken's Fairwell......and hopefully I can get a ride home with Grandpa Bud on Sunday.....can't leave my plants to long in this 100 degree weather.
  

IN THE PAST.........

I can't believe my blog is up and running......it has been part of my daily routine for so many years and lately this darn computer has not been co-operating at all.......but yesterday my very smart grandson Will came over and bailed me out......still can't get Facebook or email......darnit.
Today I want to leave for my future generations a magic concoction that the pioneers used many years before antibiatics.......PIONON SALVE:
      1.  Get soft pitch from pinon or pine tree early in the Fall......
      2.  You take pitch and heat and strain it through a screen wire to get bark out.....then strain through cheese cloth while still hot and add to mutton tallow.....which has already been rendered out from tallow of sheep or goats.
      3.  Take 1 part pitch ---to 1 part tallow---- Add 5 drops of carbolic acid to each gallon of the pitch and tallow mixed.
      4.  When cool put in small containers like baby food jars.
      5.  The tallow has to be bought from Indians as the stores do not handle it. and you need;
       1/2 GALLON PITCH
       1/2 GALLON MUTTON TALLOW
       5 DROPS CARBOLIC ACID.....YOU HAVE TO SIGN FOR THE CARBOLIC ACID.
       You can melt pitch in RR.....but line it with paper and throw away plastic used to melt it in......    MARGARET RAMSEY
       My neighbor shared some she had......which started this whole idea of making it......good for absolutely everything!!!!

MOVING ON

Wow.......is my summer flying by......the middle of July already.  Leslie came to stay with me on Monday and we have been busy most the week......I went to bridge one day and she got her hair tipped, then movies, shopping and off to have lunch with Lucille today.....PLUS the Republican Convention every night.  Sunday had a fun dinner with my Panniers and Church......guess that covers most the week.......                                              It has been interesting watching the Rep. Convention.......I am convinced Trump is the only way to go.....I like his kids and the choice of VP.......Maybe they can level him off.  "A man's conversation is the mirror of his thoughts!"........"There is neither Happiness nor Misery in the world......There is only the comparison of one state with another".......I like that thought.

TRADITIONS

YEP......THIS IS ME........I AM NOT DEAD OR ALMOST DEAD EVEN........BUT TO SOME IN MY FAMILY I AM BEING TREATING AS IF I AM........THAT IS OK BECAUSE THERE IS NO RULE YOU HAVE TO LIKE YOUR MOTHER.......
          BUT.........I HAVE DECIDED THAT TRADITIONS IN A FAMILY ARE NOT FOREVER........USUALLY THE CHILDREN KEEP THEM GOING UNTIL TTHE PARENTS HAVE DIED......BUT THERE IS NO RULE THAT SAYS THEY HAVE TO........SOOOOO OUR TRADITION OF GOING TO GRAMS HOUSE FOR AFAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY HAS NOW COME TO AN END........NO MORE VISITS FROM SANTA WITH HIS SANTA BAG FULL OF PRESENTS........NO MORE PICTURES OF EACH WITH AWW ISH FOR THE NEW YEAR....NO MORE GOOD FOOD OR THREE BIG BAGS DRAGGED OUT FULL OF PRESENTS FOR ANYONE........DONE, GONE FOREVER.
MY THREE FAMILIES NOW HAVE THEIR FMILIES.........AND CAN TO START THEIR OWN TRADITIONS OF WHICH I WILL BE NO PART OF........AHHHHH TO BED EARLY AND SLEEP TILL NOON IF I WANT.  MY FAMILY HAS COME TO PARTING OF THE WAYS AND EVEERYONE IS NOT COMFORTABLE TOGETHER ANY MORE.........LAST YEAR SHOWED ME THAT.........IT SURELY CUTS MY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING DOWN TO NOTHING.
         SO I TELL MY CHILDREN......START YOUR OWN FAMILY TRADITIONS......THINK OF THE ONES YOU HAVE HAD GROWING UP AND START THEM WITH YOUR KIDS.....OR START NEW ONES.........FAMILIES NEED TRADITIONS THAT BECOME SO MUCH A PART OF OUR LIVES THAT WE ACT INSTINCTIVELY;PLANNING THE ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC, DRESSING UP FOR GRAM'S THANKSGIVING DINNER, HALLOWEEN OR CINCO-DE-MAYO  PARTY.  
         EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE.......HOWEVER, A MOMENT ARISES, CALLING US TO ACT TO CREATE A NEW EVENT.....BY BEGINNING A FRESH TRADITION, WE ARE MAKING A STAMP ON OUR OWN PERSONA HISTORIES.........
        I JUST THOUGHT I BETTER GET THIS CANCELATION NOTICE OUT EARLY SO YOU WON'T HAVE TO BE TRYING TO THINK UP AN EXCUSE NOT TO COME TO MY HOUSE AT CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR....2016 AND CAN RELAX AND ENJOY YOUR NEW CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS............

EACH DAY A NEW STRUGGLE IN OUR WORLD........

I AM SO CONCERNED WITH OUR WORLD TODAY......SIX OF OUR WONDERFUL POLICE MAN WERE SHOT THIS WEEKEND BY SOME COOKIE BLACK GUY WHO SAID HE DIDN'T LIKE POLICEMAN.......ESPECIALLY WHITE ONES.  THE BLACK PEOPLE WERE STAGING A PEACEFUL MARCH BECAUSE TWO BLACK MEN HAD BEEN SHOT BY WHITE POLICEMAN IN ANOTHER TOWN......THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON TOO LONG AND OBAMA ONLY FUELS THE FIRES WITH HIS REMARKS!!!!!! SIX FAMILIES ARE WITHOUT A FATHER THIS WEEKEND AND MORE IN THE HOSPITAL.......I HAVE BEEN READING DEEPAK CHOPRA......AND HE LEAVES ME SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT HERE......ONE OF HIS SEVEN SPIRITUAL LAWS IS.....THE LAW OF LEAST EFFORT.....HE STATES THE FIRST COMPONENT IS ACCEPTANCE.......ACCEPTANCE SIMPLY MEANS THAT YOU MAKE A COMMITMENT;    TODAY I ACCEPT PEOPLE, SITUATIONS,         CIRC UMSTANCES AND EVENTS AS THEY OCCUR......THIS MEANS I WILL KNOW THAT THIS MOMENT IS AS IT SHOULD BE.....THIS MOMENT....THE ONE YOU ARE EXPERIENCING RIGHT NOW.....IS THE CULMINATION OF ALL THE MOMENTS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST......THIS MOMENT IS AS IT IS.....BECAUSE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE IS AS IT IS.

WHEN I LOOK AT A GROUP LIKE THIS I KNOW I HAVE EVERY REASON TO FEEL CONFIDENT!  I LOOK BACK AT ALL I HAVE DONE AND HOW FAR I HAVE COME AND KNOW I HAVE SUCCEEDED IN ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS I EVER DECIDED TO DO.......I WILL CONTINUE TO SUCCEED IN MY UNDERTAKINGS AND NEVER LET SELF-DOUBT STAND IN MY WAY.....I BELIEVE IN MYSELF AND I KNOW IT TURNS POSSIBILITIES INTO PROBABILITIES!...I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL MY NEXT TASK IS PUT BEFORE ME........

        THIS IS MY CUTE GRANDSON WHO I HOPE HAS THE TRAVEL BUG LIKE I DID.....HE IS IN GHANA;AFRICA WITH GABBY.......JUST A FRIEND?.....ON AN ADVENTURE HELPING OUT AT AN ORPHANAGE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS.....AND FROM WHAT I GATHER LOVING IT........SO MANY SMILING FACES AND I KNOW THE KIDS ARE LOVING BRAYDEN.......AND PROBABLY DON'T EVEN NOTICE HIS TAN IS NOT AS GOOD AS THEIRS?????  I WILL BE ANXIOUS TO HEAR OF ALL THEIR FUN ADVENTURES AND COMPARE THEM WITH THE THINGS I SAW AND DID WHEN I VISITED GHANA.......

GREAT FOURTH.......

I thought it was a great Fourth of July.......but a very quiet one!  I am finding as I add the years......less seems to be more........A movie with friends, a nice Mexican lunch......then a break to feed the gold fish and let my dog out.......then back to Shirleys for a good game of Mexican Train......I think I beat the chickens to bed last night.

I am not much for the fireworks this year but loved seeing our American Flag every where......It was born in Philadelphia on June 14, 1772.......the flag of the United States of America symbolizes the patriotic ideals of a nation ....."conceived in liberty"......and admired around he world.......From dawn's early light to the twilight's last gleaming, you will be proud to display.....'OLD GLORY".....;long may it wave.

As you jump out of bed each day.......JUMP INTO THE NOW.........as NOW is all we have.....so enjoy it.  Our life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets......So love the people who treat you right.....forgive the ones who don't and believe every thing happens for a reason.......don't even try to figure out the reason......just live in the moment and enjoy.

JULY IS HERE..........

We just get through decorating for one Holiday and another is upon us......can't keep up with this fun stuff........January.....New Years......February......Valentines Day....March St. Patricks Day....April....Easter....May and June coast and July out come the American Flags and the Red, White and Blue everything!!!!!  Keeps me busy........Off to lunch with Patty and Ruth today at Ruth's cute daughter's house......she had a big party and had a lot of left over food to get rid of so invited us over, she is a lawyer and very busy, but she put together a wonderful lunch for us......so today I didn't get much done....... guess it will be a pretty quiet 4th for me.  But I can think back to the wonderful memories I had growing up and the wonderful 4th's I spent with my family in my little home town of Mancos, Colorado.   I was a majorette in the parade, they had a carnival and a rodeo and a big dance and I loved the 4th.
